The Nine Tailed Fox was a demon spirit who was only an antagonist until the fourth Hokage sacrificed himself to seal the huge beast into Naruto when he was just a baby. There was no telling where the huge fox came from before he killed a lot of innocent people. Naruto used his red chakra to break free from Haku's mirror trap. Later after meeting Jiraiya the pervy but wise mountain sage, and after getting punched by Sakura for trying to hug her, Naruto meets the Nine Tailed Fox sealed behind a cage created by the seal. The Fox had to become Naruto's ally due to his imprisonment. He makes his first clear and present appearance when Naruto transforms Gamabunta into the Nine Tailed Beast himself to engage Shikaku.
